Here is what a few people have said about Trees In Trust:
"I purchased a piece of woodland In New Brunswick in memory of my
brother-in-law. I can not think of a more fitting gift or tribute for a loved
one or friend. I will be highly recommending "Trees In Trust" to all of my face
book friends and family. Keep up the good work. Organizations such as this one
are of great value to this world!"
V Gillam, Huron County, ONT
"Thank you for this very very laudable project -- we are thrilled to be a part
of your efforts! I did print a certificate and they are very
impressive indeed!"
T Bridge, Saskatoon, SK
"I just thought that (my friend) didn’t need more things and this would be
a great idea. She was excited and immediately went on line to look at it. It
was exactly what I had hoped it would be for her"
J Magrath, Charlottetown, PEI
"Thank you for the certificate. No problem downloading, and got a very nice
print-out to laminate and send to my Daughter for posterity"
B Heslip, Prince George, BC
"I spent $30 on a piece of woodland for my son's birthday. Once he saw where it
was on a map, he was really intrigued"
F MacEachern, Charlottetown, PEI
"280 square feet of woodland has been dedicated to my Dad. There are a lot of
people cutting down our trees, so I think that if we preserve as much as we
can, it's a good idea"
D Cardinal, Cornwall, PEI

About Trees In Trust
top
Trees In Trust enables you to quickly and easily dedicate a piece
of forest to give as a gift, as a memorial or to reduce your carbon footprint.
You don't own the trees, but they are held in your name forever by a
not-for-profit charitable land trust which protects the woodland in perpetuity.
Quick Facts:
-
A piece of woodland makes the perfect green gift, the ideal last
minute gift that helps protect our local environment.
-
Your personalized piece of forest, a natural arboretum, will be
preserved forever in your name.
-
Design and print your own gift certificate on the website, or
e-mail your woodland gift to the recipient.
-
Save some trees as a green Christmas
gift, birthday gift, or as a permanent woodland memorial.
-
Your gift benefits a local environmental charity by helping them
save Canadian forest from destruction.
-
We have woodland in Ontario, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and PEI
under conservation.
-
Trees make a perfect green business gift, green convention gift
or green business donation.
-
So save a tree, save the wildlife, help reduce CO2 and global
warming by giving a carbon neutral gift.
Trees In Trust was set up so that you can quickly and easily secure a piece of
woodland as a gift, as a memorial or to reduce your carbon footprint. You
don't own the woodland, rather it is held in your name forever by a
not-for-profit charitable land trust which protects the woodland
in perpetuity. Trees In Trust works closely with these land trusts
and is used by them to raise funds to secure and preserve woodland for the
benefit of wildlife, for the environment and for future generations.
The three things that make Trees In Trust unique are the speed and convenience
of purchasing your woodland dedication on-line, the availability of woodland in
a number of locations and the way in which your individual piece of
woodland is mapped using a GIS (Geographic Information System). By
bringing in donations from many different sources - gift purchases, memorials,
businesses - we are able to make a real difference to the amount of
woodland that is protected forever.
Currently, all Trees In Trust land is located in Canada and is owned and managed
either by the Island
Nature Trust in Prince Edward Island, by the
Nature Trust of New Brunswick in New Brunswick, by
Ontario Nature in Ontario and by
Meewasin Valley Authority in Saskatchewan, and we are negotiating with
other provinces with the eventual aim of being able to offer woodland in a
number of locations in each Province.
Our mission is "to enable land trusts to preserve and restore as much native
forest as possible by allowing large numbers of people the opportunity to
secure small pieces of woodland." We aim to have protected 3,000
acres of threatened woodland by our tenth year of operation - and hope to far
exceed this target.
The land trust that you decided to support receives 100% of your
donation. 5% of your donation is used to cover the cost of
processing your payment such as credit card and PayPal fees.
Where the land trust holds a mortgage on your woodland, some or all of
your donation is used to pay down that debt. Where the land trust already
owns the land, your donation is used by the land trust to purchase more
endangered woodland of equal or greater area. Some of your donation is
used to manage and maintain your woodland. Trees In Trust complies
with the Association of Fundraising Professionals guidelines
on ethical fundraising.
We cut costs by avoiding printed material and handling all of our business on
the web. It is only by not mailing out glossy brochures and
certificates that we can maintain this low overhead. We really appreciate
your support.

How your woodland is
protected

Trees In Trust woodland is managed by a number of charitable land trusts.
These land trusts are run by committed, local, environmentally
forward-thinking individuals. All land trusts that
manage Trees In Trust woodland are not-for-profit
charities that exist primarily to secure and protect environmentally
important forested areas and other endangered land. Currently, all
Trees In Trust land is owned and managed by the
Island Nature Trust ,
the Nature Trust of New Brunswick,
Ontario Nature and Meewasin
Valley Authority.
By securing of a plot of woodland, the future of that plot is
assured. The plot is held in perpetuity in the name of the donor, or in
memorial of a departed friend or relative. For one acre dedications, a
business will have its name listed on the Trees In Trust website and on the
respective land trust website, complete with a link to the business' own
website.
Once a piece of woodland has been secured, the land is protected by the
strongest possible laws available, with the aim of protecting that woodland
forever. The name of the individual or business to whom that
woodland is dedicated will be associated with that woodland forever.
Different levels of protection are given by different legislations. The
highest possible protection is always given to your woodland.
The Natural Areas Protection Act (1988) (and amendments) protects Trees In Trust
land in Prince Edward Island, Canada. The full text of the act can be
found at http://www.gov.pe.ca/law/statutes/pdf/n-02.pdf.
In summary, the act designates the land as an ecological reserve. The
protection is attached to the deed and is binding on subsequent owners.
Cutting, destroying or removing any vegetation from a designated natural area
is not permitted without proper authorization.
In other provinces the woodland is protected by right of ownership.
